Anon option on accounts (where permitted)

Some of the forums allow you to post unregistered. (such as the personal issues page). Instead of logging out and posting would it not be better to just have an anon option for your account. If there's any trolling or banable behavior, then a mod could deal with it (and may be able to see your true identity?) Or perhaps have the option of banning the person (they can't see who it is) from using unregistered feature on their account.

You might have to use the feature side by side with non registered posting as well for just plain people who have social situations where email is checked etc and their parents, spouses, abusing figures of authority may find emails of registration.

I'm unaware currently if boards is actually based on some prebuilt software. If it is then it would make implementing this feature tricky to say the least if not dangerous for bug testing and exploitation.

This feature would solve a lot of the issues of people having to sign out and sign back in again to post on their different forums at the same time. It also saves from issues where people accidently post while being logged in with a bit of good UI settings (such as options to have it auto set on anon when you go to post or a pop up asking if you want to post anon)

hmmm, Dont know if it is in the code to do something like that, but TBH, I can only see more trouble being caused than problems solved.

This would be nice, but seeing as we rather have anon posting in select forums for very obvious reasons, it would be a heartache to moderate and admin on a day to day basis.

What ticks boards over is vBulletin and is one of the most up to date software on the net out there in terms of bugfixing and plugging up exploits.
There is a huge community of coders and developers at www.vbulletin.org that create what they call "hacks" that alter the software to do different things and add/remove different features, one of which is the post thanks feature that you see.
The only trouble with the hacks is that they can add to more used resources and can also lead to exploits if the software is not coded properly.

I think for a brief period of time that it takes to log in and out to post in a forum that allows anon posting it wouldn't justify the need for a hack to be used.
Like anything else things will be abused at stages too.
