Going to a wedding soon, brother of my other half. We have been together for nine years and I have a child which he has taken on as his own. Thing is the child has not been invited to the wedding. At first didnt think much of it, lots of weddings dont invite kids which is fair enough, even if he was I probubly wouldnt have brought him. Thing is I have recently found out that there are lots of other kids going. I got a bit upset by this and feel a bit put out, I havent said anything to anyone in the family about this. Would you be annoyed or should I just shut up and keep the peace.

Forget it. Dont view it as a slight or something to be taken personally. Perhaps they were tight with numbers, perhaps the other people with kids made a big fuss and refused to go unless the kids could go, perhaps other people are just bringing their kids without being asked, perhaps the bride or groom has a special relationship with other kids going - who knows. If I were you I wouldnt make a fuss. Especially if you werent going to bring him anyway.

forget about it. Its not a big deal and doesnt affect much really. Perhaps the other kids are older or perhaps there is a reason genuine enough that he wasnt invited, or perhaps, he simply assumes the child is going if he is so close to him?

TBH I'd feel the very same as you. My brother in law's girlfriend has a child from a previous relationship and I wouldn't dream of not including all of them to any of our family functions. If it were a no child policy at the wedding, that would be fair enough but the fact that there were other kids their would have me fuming!

Are the rest of the kids going all relatives?

OK well, not trying to be harsh but they obviously dont consider your child 'family'.

I guess if he adopted the child or ye married that view may change but a it stands the child is the grooms brother's girlfriends child....

IMHO I would not leave the child out if other kids are going but their viewpoint is also valid and you should definitely shut up and keep the peace.... Its not yiour place to dictate who they bring to their wedding.

Well that's what I am a bit upset about because he is his child as well. That's how people generally see it. We have been together years and he has brought him up, so not really just the child of a girlfriend kind of thing.

but yes, I see your point maybe that's why I am upset by it.
