Heya , just wondering if anybody knows my rights if any. Story goes, Working in UCC for the summer and parking daily in Denehys Cross car park (its free) and walking into college from there. Been doing that since start of June. Anyway after pulling a 12 hour shift at work I return last Thursday to find a big dent in the side of my car. Disgusted as you can imagine. Anyway there is a security guard in the car park but he leaves at one, but the place is riddled with security cameras so I thought surely i'll be able to track who it was once the security guard looks over the cameras. The following day I asked him to and he said he would, so I called into him this morning and he showed me the clip of a car pulling out from next to mine, hitting it , stoppig for like 5 minutes then leaving again. All i could make out from the camera was that it was a silver people carrier. I asked the security guard where do I go from here and he said no one the cameras arent good enough to see the make of the cars let alone the registration plates. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can do?if anything.......Oh btw gona cost approx 400e to repair

Report it to the Guards first of all.

Scout around the car park to see if the same person parks there again - its a place that'd get a fair amount of daily business from memory.

Lad in work found the car that had hit his car parked around the other side of our building the next day - people don't have proper hiding skills it seems!

Man that gets my goat. What's the f**king point in having cameras that can't pick up any detail whatsoever? Useless :mad:

The UCC park and ride would be full of regulars, especially this time of the year, when it should be mainly all staff. Try to prowl around see can you spot a similar car again.

Also, and it's a long shot, maybe you could ask for other camera angles, see the car leaving the carpark, that kind of thing. One of them might have captured the number plate.

If you do find a similar people carrier check the side of it to see if it's dented where you car was hit......if so then there may be some paint from your car on the dent.....if so with the cctv footage you'd have a good case & ring Guardai immediately.
