Apologies in advance for the long post.

My OH and myself are living in an apartment at the moment at 900 euro a month. I'm a student, going back to college to do my masters, my OH is recently unemployed. He was in at the community welfare officer for rent allowance yesterday where he was told that because the upper band is 720 he couldn't get rent allowance in our apartment because it was too expensive.

Anyway, we want to move and have just today put an offer in on a new apartment for 700, it's a one-bed, so my question is just to confirm that my OH will be entitled to rent allowance in that apartment? I have a feeling he will be but obviously don't want to put a deposit down if he can't. Does anyone have any ideas if this is ok??

    Thanks!

im looking to find out this too but just for a room in a house for myself. I emailed the social department to find out... I think its 372/month. If your sharing a one bed apt with your OH you get twice the rent allowance... really? So just pay E24 weekly and the rest is covered?

all the information is out there on the web.

welfare.ie or citizensinformation.ie have the rent supplement guidelines

was rooting around welfare.ie for ages. not very clear cut when your looking for 'max' limits unless those are the ones that exclude you from getting anything:)

someone pointed out www.inou.ie to me today. seems to be much better.
