Hi all, would appreciate some advice here. Apologies if a similar question has been asked. Basically I've been on a kind of on/off weight loss program over the last year. At my heaviest I was around the 16st mark, and as a 5' 8" male that was obviously way too much. I'm now down to 180 lbs, and can see a massive difference between now and 18 months ago.

I've lost a lot of weight off my face, arms, legs, neck and back, and a nice bit off the trunk area, i.e. gut and chest. However I still feel like I have a huge stomach and moobs for 180lbs. Some of my friends are the same height as me and only a couple of pounds lighter but look way, way thinner.

My diet is pretty good as I've seen a dietician a couple of times. Low carb intake, and any I do take in are complex, stay away from drink as much as I can etc. I'm fully committed to loosing it all and getting close to a flat stomach, so am willing to do anything. Up to this point it is almost all cardio I have been doing, i.e. swimming, cycling, running and general bits and pieces in the gym. Can anyone recommend anything specific in terms of exercise/diet to lose all the excess fat on my stomch? Thanks a load.

Cheers, no prob. Diet varies slightly from day to day, I try to maintain an average calorie intake below 1700. Yesterday was fairly typical for example:

    Breakfast:
    8:30AM - Nutri-grain bar (small ~130kcal one)
9:45AM - 2x slice brown toast with flora

    Lunch:
12:30AM - Tuna and 2x slice McCambridge's brown bread, Danone low fat yoghurt (~50kcal).

    Mid-Afternoon:
    3:30PM - Bananna

    Dinner:
7:00PM - Vegtable stir fry and chicken fillet

    Misc:
8:30PM - Generally I'd allow for a small snack, posibbly a yoghurt or crackers or something. I'd allow for about 100kcal here.

In terms of exercise, I try to do cardio at least three times per week. This would typically be a one hour gym session of rowing machiene/cross trainer/bike/treadmill, and would swim about 500m at a fast pace afterwards. I'm trying to get back into swimming as I find it a great sport for exercise. I done 2000m in the 50m pool yesterday evening, and would like to increase over time.

hi op, your diet isnt terrible but its definately not as low on processed carbs as you might think, the brown toast (unless it is 100% true wholemeal bread) along with the nutrigrain and the crackers (unless wholewheat) are probably not ideal ... you could do with adding in a little more protein ,, maybe have cottage cheese instead of the crackers before bed?

Thanks for your help. Now that you say it when I look back over it there is a nice bit of carb present. I guess what I am trying to do first and foremost is stay away from rice/pasta/spuds etc. But you're right, I'll take a look at this.

The cheese is a good idea, except I'm supposed to keep calcium intake as low as possible as I am inclined to get kidney stones.

defo stay away from anything processed .. a baked potato will be far better for you than a nutrigrain bar
