Bikes For Beginners

    Hi,

I was hoping you could help....

Myself and the OH, both reasonably fit and in our mid 20's were thinking of buying a couple of bikes. Nothing fancy, just for leisurely weekend trips around the Dublin area.

Don't have a fortune to spend, probably a max of €100 on each bike. But as I said, we don't need anything fancy... I was looking on Halfords' website; I wonder would I be better off going to a local supplier? Or even a 'Bike Shop' rather than the likes of Halfords.

Could anyone help? Also, the other half has NEVER cycled a bike before. For reasons I won't go into here she wasn't able to as a child, and then never bothered after that. With the result that she is now convinced that she won't be able to cycle a bike and is a bit scared about the prospect of doing it. So I wanted to help her learn. Is there anywhere we could go where there are quiet roads/cycle paths etc?

Thanks in advance for your help!
