Setup of a new UPC installation

    Hey all,

I'm about to move into an apartment that has been pre wired with ethernet network and tv points. I'm getting UPC (TV and Broadband) installed this weekend and I just wondering if anybody has knowledge of how the setup works.

I have this "comms" box in my utility. It looks to me that the incoming UPC connection can be split out to the different TV points in each room. (The TV out connections are labelled as such).

What I'd like to have is the UPC media box in the living room and the broadband modem in the utility room. That way I can connect the modem to a router and share the connection to the ethernet sockets in each room. Is this possible? Or does the modem have to be in the same room as the media box.

I've attached a pic of the comms box if that helps.

    Thanks

The modem just needs a coax connection. Nothing to do with the TV setbox. Some people don't get the TV just BB.

They split the coax coming into your premises for the Modem and the Media box so what you want is possible

No idea what the correct name for it is. It was installed in the apartment when I bought it.
