Im thinking of purchasing and Epiphone Les Paul...Which would be the best pick ups to use with it?

I play mainly hard rock stuff along the lines of whitesnake?

    Any input will be appreciated
    Thanks

For the price of a new Epiphone with a pickup change you're getting into Edwards territory. Edwards are higher quality guitars and come in a variety of models with different pickup brands. And they have the correct headstock, if that's what you're into.

They even do a John Sykes model.

Do a search here on the forum. Many have waxed lyrical about them.

Personally, I'd take an Edwards over an Ltd. But strokes/folks etc.

Don't see why the stock pickups can't do Whitesnake. www.Guitarfetish.com do cheap pickups in all shapes and sizes.

    Yes.

Sometimes that answer is supplemented with "they're great for the money". They're made in Asia but designed by yer man behind that site.

Are the Shur Pickups any good...The aldridge one is meant to be very good.

Look for the code "LP" as that's les paul.

To buy one you've to use some kind of Japanese site that sells them. I remeber hearing positive things with orders from a crowd called Ishibashi or something but I can't find their site shop.

Suhr pick ups are very good, I know lots of people that rave about them.

I'm a fan of Bare Knuckle pickups http://www.bareknucklepickups.co.uk/

I bought a set of Gibson 57 Classics for my Epiphone Sheraton yesterday - you cant go wrong with these pups for classic rock and blues.

I would also recommend Seymour Duncan Antiquities...

Seymour Duncan 59's, I put them in a cheap epiphone les paul years ago and they sound great.

I actually have an Epi Joe Pery Les Paul which has Burstbuckers 2&3 I think. They're fantastic, slightly overwound I think . I'd recommend them. The Burstbucker Pro pups are a bit too balanced and clean I thought. If that makes any sense at all :p

How do you guys put the new pickups in? Do you do it yourself or get it done professionally? Im thinking of getting new pots and a pickup for my telecaster but couldn't do it myself.

My Telecaster is still sitting in a heap of wires and pots :o

Totally DIY failure! It's pretty pricey getting a guitar shop to swap pickups (€40)
