    Hi,

I am considering taking a 2nd part-time job which I have been offered.

Its vital that either employers are not aware of the fact that I have another job. Conflict of interest between employers.

( I cant turn 2nd job down, My pay and hours have been cut in current job.)

If I take the 2nd job would revenue be obligued to make either empolyer aware of my employment with the other?

Would either empolyers name appear on any tax related document, such as when I initally become registered with new employer??

    Hi

No details appear on certs etc that issue to employers. Revenue can not disclose your details to each employer as they are your details and not the employers. They can query credits etc in regards to your employment with them but not re other employment. They are not obliged to get a break down of your credits i.e as to what they are.

If you are splitting credits and rateband between employments your current employer will notice a drop in your details i.e weekly/monthly rateband will reduce and credits will reduce but it is none of their concern as to why. You can just confirm that the details are correct if they query it with you.

It would be no harm to ring revenue and get them to note on file (under your ppsn) that you do not want info re employments given to the other employer just so if the employers do query the operator will be made aware of the fact that this is of concern to you.

Thanks a million, your info has been very useful.

Both jobs are part-time with low hours so I dont think my credits will be effected to a huge degree.

Hi. If u dont transfer enough rateband to cover ur income with the second job then all ur income will be taxed at 41 percent. U also need to transfer credits to cover the amount of income so that u dont have to pay tax. Say ur income for example will be 5000, u need to transfer 5000 of ur 35400 rateband over so that income will be taxed at 20 percent. Then when the 5000 is taxed @ 20% = 1000 u need to transfer 1000 credits in order not to be taxed. If u dont do this ur 2nd employer will get a 0 rateband and 0 credit cert from revenue and then ur income will be taxed at 41 percent. Your second employer could then also question it with revenue as they would assume that u should have full credits and rateband.

Just a quick note, if you are married and want a realistic reason for changes bands and credits it would not be unusual for spouses to divvy up bands and credits depending on who was earning what. It would not raise any suspicion if you said you had transferred some to your hubby....just in case antyone did ask.

Good luck and well done for trying so hard in tough times.;)
