Anyone know of anywhere that a quick approval payday loan can be got. I earn 55k in regular employment but have a sketchy credit rating due to too much living the high life in college days, only have one small loan left of 1600 just looking for around 1k for short term, any ideas anyone?

Your credit union? Just make small lodgement and you shouldn't have any probs getting 1-1.5 k.

I was looking into the credit union alright. I havnt opened up a credit union account though.

I dont think there would be any chance of getting a loan from the credit union if I only opened the account on the same day. What you reckon?

My parents set up an EBS account for me when I was younger. I had money comming in and out of that. That account was closed probably two years now. Do you think I could get a loan from the EBS Considering my account has been closed 2 years now?

    Thanks!

The problem with the credit union is that every branch does their own thing so I can't possibly tell you. Sure why not ring your local branch and ask them what their pre-conditions are for borrowing?
Maybe set up an account either way.. next time you could use them for a different loan? They are definitely easier to get a loan with overall and that's the advantage of going with them, plus they don't report to ICB generally.

Apart from that, I'm not sure about EBS. I imagine they do report to ICB though so they'd have access to your report card... could be wrong, but I do think they operate more like the mainstream banks.

Maybe this is a no-go, but for your small amount of a loan- do you maybe have uncle, aunt, brother or sister who could help? Maybe half and half between two?

Ye might have to resort to that but it would most certainly be the last resort. Would much rather get it from a bank etc..

Im gonna go down to BOI tommorow and ask for an overdraft (Havnt used my BOI account in ages so thats probably gonna be a straight no)

Gonna try the Credit Union aswel and see what they say.

Wish me luck (Ill certainly need it) :)

Anyone any other suggestions greatly appreciated

    Cheers!

By the way please don't go borrowing at rates over 10% etc.- total rip off.

Mabs are great for advice.. they can help in all different kinds of situations. And if you can get tips now you will be well sorted in a few years from now. You have steady income. That is more than half the battle :)

Also, this month's You and Your money magazine has an article on Credit reports, how to improve your rating and all that! Really good imo.

The overdraft is a good idea for short term cash injection- BUT it will affect your Credit report so short term solution only.

Ye only need it for short term. Thing is though I havnt used my BOI account in a good while now. AIB wont give me an overdraft as I have a loan from them already that paid off a previuos overdraft :o. Hopefully BOI will give me one but I cant see it happening to be honest. My contract for my job is up in 3 months aswel :( so that wont help my chances although I will probably get it renewed/extended.

Well you don't need to let the bank know the contract is up (if it's not renewed then you will have to change repayment arrangements that's all).

But seriously I think you need to refresh your mentality about money, borrowing, etc.

I do feel that if you ask a family member you will be X100 times more aware of what you're borrowing and why and also you won't be paying interest more than likely! Most people love to help their friends and family if they can.. just be sure you can pay them back if they say yes!
If you think there is any chance you will have trouble paying back, go to MABS for finance advice!

    Good luck hun!

Im not sure about 2 sure about loans like that for Ireland. But maybe Poundaccess. I dont like to suggest that people should be using these type of loans though, so be carefully.
