Mayo/Meath rather avoid Kerry?

Would Mayo/Meath fans prefer not to win at the weekend in order to avoid a potential hammering from Kerry similar to what Dublin received?

As a mayo person I think we need to beat Kerry sometime in the championship, and why not in a semi final.

Would meath/Mayo fans still want to win this weekend? 19 votes

    Yes, bring on Kerry!!

Unfortunatelyy Mayo have shown time and time again that they dont have any balls. Nice brand of football but with a misplaced arrogance. It seems they are more concerned with looking pretty.

If Ronaldo played GAA...he would play with Mayo.

I would love to see them win but its all too predictable...:(

meh, previous result has little bearing on the upcoming match, i remember in 2001 people were saying that galway shouldn't bother turning up to croker on all-ireland final day because meath would wipe the floor with them after beating kerry by 15 points in the semis, even galway people that i talked to in the weeks building up to that game just wanted galway to put up a good show

mayo fans won't lack confidence either way, they will expect their team to win

John O'Mahoney has plenty of experience at beating Kerry in big games. Mayo are well capable of beating Kerry, however I don't think it will be this year with that young fella in midfield running rings around the opposition. Whats his name, Dara O'Se I think it is.

Serously though he is key to Kerry and when he is fit and well they are just in a different class.

I was referring to a game against Kerry. I assume they should beat Meath. But then again I saw Meath kick the ****e out of Tyrone in 2007 to reach the semi final.

Yes Mayo fans are always confident..not sure why though. On NewsTalk, it's hilarious, David Brady (a Mayo man) criticising Kerry and Tyrone and telling them how they should play football...LOL

As a Cork man I am just glad to be playing anyone but Kerry. In fact it is a novelty to play Tyrone and am looking forward to it as there is no history.

    against meath,yes,not against Kerry though.

if mayo win against meath the fans will expect them to beat kerry, i have heard numerous people saying revenge for 1997/04/06 already

Sorry but think that is a really daft poll. Why would a teams fans hope they lose?

I'm a Mayo fan by the way and would be in no way dreading a game against Kerry. I know there is a lot of (bad) history there but Mayo themselves have been playing some lovely football this year and whose to say Kerry can play the spectacular football that was witnessed yesterday.

I for one say if we hopefully beat Meath next weekend bring on Kerry and hope we can just play to the best of our ability on the day and grind out a result. Football can be a funny game sometimes!!

when?? I can't remember his galway team beating kerry, maybe i am wrong but the only championship game i remember between o'mahoney and kerry is 2000 when kerry beat his then galway team after a replay in the AI final

First and foremost we have to beat a Meath team that are not just going to roll over for Mayo are they.

You got to play the best to judge where you are against them.

Mayo need to beat Kerry. Its that simple. If we can and we all know its a big if this would have an enormous positive effect on the Mayo team for a generation to come.

We know that we may not beat Meath but to beat teams like Kerry first you have to win the matches that qualify you to play Kerry.

as a Meath man I seriously doubt we'll beat Mayo but if we did its Kerry I wanted in the semi not Dublin.

Meath and Mayo would love to be in the all-ireland semi, whether it be against Kerry,Antrim or whoever...
Both teams will give Kerry a decent game, they will even up their game when they see the Kerry jersey, not s#*t themselves like the Dubs did!!!!

Just wanted to get the discussion going and expect the result to be very onesided. As a Mayo person I agree and want my team to win on Sunday. In a way I think it might up both teams performance as they know what faces them after this game.
