hotel about an hour from Cherbourg

anyone know of a nice family hotel in a safe location somewhere about an hour or so from Cherbourg....will be driving back from Paris to the port but want to break the journey and spend a morning somewhere nice....have to be at the port about 2:30pm somewhere accessible en route please as this will be my first driving…

somewhere accessible en route please as this will be my first driving experience in France and I don't want to be driving into scary situations like cities:eek:

EDIT: decided to stay on in Paris an extra day when I find out drive is only an estimated 4 hours and I don't have to be at the port until about 4:30pm

Although you have changed your mind it is worth noting that you could have spent the night in a cheap Travelodgesque type property like Bed City or Forumla One which are all over France.
