    Hi all

I'm looking to cut some firewood from fallen trees for the winter in the Nth Dublin / Meath / Louth area.

Will cut up and take away and leave some for your use also.

    All offers greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance

A farmer in my area cut trees on his own land and ended up in court over cutting them and was fined heavily, even the judge admitted that he didn’t know that this law existed.

That appears to be true Sam but I am looking to cut up branches that have already fallen or tress that may have blown down.

I am definitely not looking to cut standing trees and my post said 'fallen trees'.

Thanks for clearing that up though.

    Still, can anybody help?

I will ask around for you dfbemt but to be honest, most farmers/landowners tend to do these things themselves.

I dont know a farmer who doesnt own a chainsaw.

I know this is a long shot but times are tough and every little helps.

    All help appreciated

why not try your local sawmill , buy in bulk & get it delivered , cut & grade it your self . theres plenty of sawmills up in the east coast . Alot more people are swichting over from oil to soild fuels to beat the price of riseing oil .

I am interested in firewood myself. I have a large shed and time to cut it. I would be interested in a bulk purchase of long logs (I guess 10-12 foot each) and cutting it myself.

Any ideas on what it costs and where I could source suitable timber - in the midwest region?

Give Coillte a ring and ask if you can get a lorry load of timber, I think it is around 1000 for a load. Be warned it is a lot of work to cut and split that amount of timber! You will also need a good area to dump that much timber in.
