Air Corps cadetships

    How are you doing guys,

I see the Defence Forces are taking on the army and navy cadets, does anyone know why the air corps aren't included? They tell you on mitary.ie that the air coprs weren't hiring cadets in 2008, either.
When was the last time the Air Corps were recruiting, can anyone remember?
I wonder if I'll be waiting forever, or should I just apply for the army cadetship in the meanwhile and hope to transfer to the air force somehow?

Any info or advise would be greatly appreciated.

I think it was 2007 or so. If you go to military.ie and go to the publications sections and download the annual reports. Aside from a wealth of information for any would be cadet (i include myself in that) they have the statistics about how many people applied for all sections of the defence forces, be it general service, cadets, where they applied from etc.

They aren't taking on cadets for the Air Corps because they don't need them right now. With the downturn the current pilots aren't leaving for the airlines. With the likely cutback the Air Corps probably won't be flying enough to warrant new pilots for some time to come.

Even when they were recruiting, very low numbers got in. Also low numbers get their wings, two or three at a time. So the odds are stacked against you.

So don't hold your breath and don't call it an 'air force' either.
