    .....and arrnotts ....

The yearly Lego thingy, and the days when department stores actually had a toy department at Xmas.

I don't want to re-direct away from this excellent forum but the OP could do with throwing his eye over to the Dublin City forum where there is an excellent thread in the stickies called The Historic Dublin Video and Pic thread.
On a side note though: is the OP planning on putting a pic up just to get the ball rolling?

There is a Facebook page now for anyone who had an interest in the Switzers Department store on Grafton St. Anyone who used to work there, family, or customers with special memories of the establishment.

I don't know if it's still there but I think it was called Burgerland(?) on O'Connell St. We used to go there as a treat. We got our burgers and then you could go on some kid's rides that were upstairs. In the 1980s.

I remember Dublin being very grey and dirty from that time though but we always had fun in Burgerland!

I remember going to see Star Wars in 1977 and we stopped off in burgerland first, the gimmick at the time was if you bought a coke or fanta for 39p(i think) you kept the glass.
There was abetter place than Burgerland called Old Kentucky which is where the small Macdonalds is on O'connel St.

Jonothans did a great fryup and had special giant sausages that were the size of a can of redbull.

I remember getting coke floats in the middle bit, on the way up to the library.

I knew about KingBurger before Burger King. Then I got awful confused when BK came out.
