BMW 635 CSI pick-up/ute?????

After watching Top Gear this evening it got me thinking wouldn't it be a good idea to build a ute out of my 635? Lets face it it's in limbo land at the moment, being 1990 it's neither classic or modern and the road tax is a rip-off so as a pick-up it would pass for commercial road tax and would probably sell as a result and would certainly turn heads.:D

If it was mine I'd rather give it away than do that. In fact you should give it away.. actually give it to me, it can be my birthday present AND my Christmas present all in one :D

do it, chop the sh*t out of it and rock something a bit different to the norm. It's not a desirable car to start with and if you can't sell it it's effectively worthless so what have you got to lose?

Is it possible to make it commercial in the same way you might make something like a 306 into a van? I think you still have to pay VRT in this way and maybe not have to pay VRT in the way you want to change it?

Go for it. It's not like they're rare or anything.

There are no VRT issues involved because it's already been paid and the only use for it now is a pick-up as nobody will buy it due to the high road tax so I'll give it the chop next week. Another option is to make a van out of it, a bit more work but would be interesting all the same.:)

It's your car to do with what you want, but as a lover of and owner of a 7 series, I would have to say no. But that's just my personal opinion. My 7 is a 1990 and wont be classic for years yet, possibly outliving me in the process, but I hope to be still driving it when it turns 30. I dont see a lot wrong with chopping and modifying certain older cars, like Beetles and Minis for example, but not a Beemer, please.............................

My sentiments exactly, the idea of giving those thieves in Dail Eireann ludicrous amount of money to drive on pot-holed roads is something I have no intentions of doing. I'd sooner spend a week converting it and tax it as a commercial from there on.

How much are you trying to sell it for?

I already have a 1990 2.6L car languishing in a shed between a few bales of hay.

I'd hate to see the car meet the fate you have in mind.
