Laptop trouble vista updates

    Hi i have a dell inspiron 1501 laptop last week when on it i was putting in or rather the laptop was updating the latest updates from windows vista it does this nearly everytime i use it which is not all that often as i use pc mainly but the problem is it was putting in an update but it never updated properly so tonight i switch it on and the screen comes up to say configuring 3/3 updates but it does not and then switches off and comes back on and the same update message comes back up and switches itself off again and reboots itself it just goes round and round and i cant get in to laptop any ideas how to sort this out please

    did you make your system restore discs? if so, boot from dvd. If not try booting in safe mode and do a erstore point. If that doesn't work get hold of a vista dvd and do repair from there. Maybe there is a restore partition on your HD if so boot from there.
