A greensome is when both players hit their teeshots and then they decide which one to use. From then on the players hit alternate shots until they hole the ball.

So both players hit their teeshot. They then decide that player 1 has the best shot so then player 2 lifts his/her ball and then plays the ball hit by player 1. Then player 1 plays the 3rd shot etc.

I don't think there's an agreed definition of Scotch Foresomes.

SF can be the same as ordinary Foresomes, or it can (I think) be the same as Greensomes or it can be that each player hits every other shot (if player A holes the putt then player B takes the next drive.....hence the two players do not hit alternate tee-shots as in Foresomes).

Greensomes, believe it or not is the term used in Scotland for Scotch Foresomes. Both drive, select which ball to hit next, then alternate shots and on to the next hole, both drive etc. This info can be had from your branch of the GUI, ie, Leinster,Munster etc.
