The Sky+ box will not work by just swaping it over with my original sky box as it does not put pick up a signal. Sky have advised that another connection is required to the satellite dish for the sky+ box to work. Looking for someone to do this instalation for me as a nixer.

At the back of the Sky plus box you will see two LNB inputs marked 1 and 2. As you only currently have 1 input you should put the feed into LNB 1. Do this before switching the box on.

You will then need to ring Sky to re-pair the card and to add the sky+ features however you will only be able to record what you are watching with 1 feed and if you try and switch channels it will tell you no signal available.

Personally I doubt you will any1 to run a second cable for less than 100 euro as you will need a quad lnb which retail for about 30-40 euro. Unless you get one off ebay and run the second cable yourself.

How old is the skyplus box? Is it an old model? If so Id sign up and get one installed with a 12 month warranty for €199...or consider a hd box which would cost you €99 including install...

Thanks for the reply will it indicate no signal when I go to change channels while recording or just changing channels?

It will work perfectly fine when changing channels, however if you decide to record a program, then u will either have to watch it at the same time...or if u try and switch channels whilst recording it will display no satellite signal is being recieved....hence why u need the second cable to be brought in and a quad fitted to the dish.
