How much is grant for different categories of applicant?

    2. What is the grant available for students qualifying for the special rate?
    The rates for the 2009 financial year are as follows:

    The ‘adjacent’ grant is payable to qualifying candidates whose normal residence is less than 24kms from the college in which the approved course is being undertaken.


    The ‘non-adjacent’ grant is payable to qualifying students whose normal residence is more than 24kms from the college in which the approved course is being undertaken.













    1) Person works for duration of 2008 and earns 18k. Age 22 when starting course in September this year. Is the total grant they receive E2,680? In the college year ended May 2007 I received over E3,000 for the standard grant.


    2) Person 24 at start of course in september (23 as of 1 jan 09). In receipt of Job Seekers Allowance for duration of 2008 and up to start of course in sep 2009. Does this person get the full E6,690? - Applying as independent mature student.



    3) What is the top up grant? How much is it? How do I apply for it? What are the income limits?
