foundation primer & acne

All pre-foundation primers are advertised as helping to make wrinkles appear less obvious, but they don't say anything about spots. Does anyone here use a foundation primer and does it help reduce the appearance of spots? I've tried the elizabeth arden and clarins primers but I didn't like either of them. I was wondering if it's worth my while trying other brands?

their function is to make foundation go on more smoothly and last longer isnt it? I dont think they are for concealing spots. concealers do that.

I use a mineral concealer which I apply with a brush and its da bomb.

They do help to even out skin tone a bit though which can help. Smashbox do a new 'light' primer now which (I believe!) is oil free. A lot of primers can contain oil which is a no-no for oily skin.

Laura Mercier does an oil free primer. http://eu.strawberrynet.com/makeup/laura-mercier/foundation-primer---oil-free/66486/#DETAIL I went on a crazed internet shopping spree the other day and bought it. Hasn't arrived in the post yet but when it does I'll let you know what it's like! :)

The SmashBox primer is actually really good. Primer basically just creates a barrier between your skin and the foundation so that it goes on smoothly. I have heard Laura Mercier is great too but haven't used it myself. Definitely do recommend SmashBox though.
