Emigrated a few months ago took the car with me its Irish registered (have it 5 years or more). Want to register this same car in the Netherlands. Need some form of customs clearance form from Ireland before I can start the procedure. Can't find the relevant website or contact, can anyone point me in the right direction ?

I think what you need is the new EU style vehicle registration certificate that was issued when cars were sold in the last couple of years. I don't know if you can apply to get one for your car or does it only get supplied when the car is traded to a new owner.

A mechanic can perform the whole process for you, it'll need the APK done and the headlights will have to be swapped out for ones pointing the other way.

You'll be exempt from BPM as you've owned the car for more than 6 months at home.

thought I might have to go to the RDW office with all forms of paperwork, its not a BMW although I have been in Scheveningen (inlaws) a few times !! Kept under the speed limit they're pretty good with camera's over here. Was caught about 20 years ago car tax was out by a month. Its a SAAB 900 and driving well would be a shame to scrap it

    Yeah, got a ticket for 132 in a 120 on the A12 :(

The Traject controle are the ones you have to be careful of, cruise control can be handy :)

I'm buying a new car meself, sick of screaming out the windows at McDonalds drive thru, or climbing across the car in the Q-Parks :)

    Where abouts are you ?

Wasn't as easy as that, had to go to the RDW in A'Dam 3 times. Once for the paperwork, they were confused with Irish papers had to come back again. Second time I came back to get the car checked to make sure it corresponded with the paperwork. They forgot to mention that all right hand drive cars have to have the lights done before this stage . Third time for to complete the test and of course the customs check where I had to pay the BPM first (€450). Spent in total 6 hours on 3 separate days.

Didn't claim it back as they looked for all forms of paperwork, work contracts, original receipt of car purchase, Irish bank accounts, Irish home details (rented or bought and copy of contracts) family details. If it had cost more I would have claimed it but seeing how they love to get their hands in your pockets here I decided to let it go.
Afterwards I got the APK done by my local garage for €25 so that part was good. Tax and Insurance was half the price of what I paid in Ireland
