    Hi guys

I'm doing Weight watchers and I've just lost 7lbs in 2 weeks
I want to lose another 1 - 2 stone before October for a wedding. Is this realistic? Have you any tips for exercises to particularly work on the abs and also diet. I mean the points diet is fine but i'm not satisfied losing 1 or 2 lbs a week although it's the average. I have about 8 stone to lose so I know from experience it can come off me quicker than that i lost 4 stone on WW before in 6 months. I just want some tips because I'm just exhausted reading variations of healty eating i don't know what to put to my lips...

any advice welcome please. I am just worn out with diets i want to eat healthily. really healthy and get fit. I know if I commit to something that's too much I'll give up. I want a plan that's challenging and rewarding

Hoping you can help - thanks so much

why not do what simply works for you?

i could never follow the 7 or 14 day "magazine" diets because i dont eat salad or fish,

they just didnt SUIT me.... so i tried to make a list of all the healthy stuff i DO like and work from that!

I like toasted chicken wraps with sweetcorn and peppers
I love brown rice and porridge
I like making my own healthy sauces- tinned tomatoes cooked with some saute veg and chicken, add garlic, chilli and pesto and a tsp creme fraiche and serve with pasta... (wholemeal and bulked up with some broccoli)

If you make satisfying meals that you enjoy you'll be less likely to stray....

    Hi lynsalot,

I've been following the Idiot Proof Diet for about a month now and have seen great results. It's basically a low-carb plan that allows you to gradually re-introduce healthy carbs when your goal is in sight. If you want, have a look at my food diary to see what it involves. If you are going to do it though, you must get the book, it's invaluable!

    Hi lynsaot.

Have you read this sticky on the Fitness Forum? Or the one here on the Nutrition & Diet Forum? They contain all you need to know.

In my own opinion, Weight Watchers isn't great. Do you really want to go through the rest of your life counting points? For example if you give in, as everyone does now and then, and have a bag of chips one day does that mean to make up for it you're going to starve yourself the next day? It's nonsense. You have to change your lifestyle to get to a healthy weight. To do this you have to change your diet to eat healthily, get exercise, both in the form of aerobic exercise (running, cycling, swimming) and also lifting weights (muscle is the only thing that burns fat from your body), and you have to get sufficient rest/sleep.

You want exercises particularly for your abs? I'm guessing that you have excess fat around your stomach/abdomen region and you think exercising that region more than others will get rid of that excess fat there? Unfortunately our bodies don't work like that. What you were hoping for is something called "spot-reducing", ie. reducing fat from one spot. When people lose bodyfat they lose it from all over their body, gradually. So the more you eat healthily and exercise the more bodyfat you lose from all over your body. And generally speaking, the first part of your body that you put on bodyfat is the last place you'll burn it off. For men this is usually the stomach area, for women it's usually their hips/thighs/backside. The reason for this? Cos we're made differently!

You ask is losing 1 or 2 stone before October realistic? To be honest, yes it is. Particularly if you're in bad shape at the moment. You have to take up exercise and maintain it and eat correctly if you wish to maintain your goal. But always consult a doctor first - that's the golden rule.

You also say you lost 4 stone in 6 months with Weight Watchers? What happened then? Did you put it back on? Weight Watchers has that effect on people. WW is a business, an extremely successful one because of a lot of gullible and desperate people out there. Once people stop going they tend to put the bodyfat back on.

Anyway, hope my rambling helps! Best of luck and always keep your goal in mind during your exercise or when you are tempted to eat something unhealthy! :)

Thanks so much for all your advice... I really like the idea of writing down the healthy meals that I like. To be honest I did buy Alli and it works for me because I am constantly checking the fat content on boxes. If it contains a lot of fat I won't touch it

I generally make stir frys and sometimes treat myself with pasta idea... it generally always is either salmon or chicken with spices and garlic etc with veg like stir fry chinese veg or courgettes and mushrooms with the pasta and always with a tomato based sauce instead of a creamy sauce. But i run out of ideas. Like I tonight I wanted something nice. Was gonna have a breaded cod fillet with a few oven chips but checked the fat. It was 7g fat in the cod and 9g in a small portion of chips so I have the fish and I cut up two potatoes covered in spray oil, garlic and mixed cajun style spices and over baked them. So that was nice and better than chips.

I put back on the weight over 3 years. I met my husband and started going for meals, weekends away. He's like me loves his food. I just tried on my bridesmaid dress last night and got a fright... I've lost 7lbs in 2 weeks which is great but I'm starting to feel the pressure and getting panicky lol I know I need to hip the gym. I go maybe twice a week as it is but not enough.

I must've gained weight on my boobs first because when I lost 4 stone I still had massive boobs .... which lets face it isn't so much a bad thing lol

    One word TOOL

weight watchers is great , anybody in fitness will tell you 1-2 lbs a week is ideal weight loss , it also makes u ware of portion sizes , good and bad foods , nutritional content of food

but it has to be a lifestyle change for a long time

the hardest part is getting the weight off , once its off you can give urself a 5 lbs over or under buffer , so u can eat what u like , when u hit that 5 over then u follow the weight watchers plan to shed it

and yes weights are excellent for weight loss and muscle definition and also high intensity cardio is good also

but stating weight watchers is a gimmick is sad and for that your a master tool

Touched a nerve has he? I know plenty of people in WW who after years of meetings still don't have a clue about nutrition. You can say it makes people aware of nutritional content all you like but the fact is the only thing it makes people of aware of is that fat is the devil (which is wrong). It rewards sugar, simple carbs and low fat processed rubbish, not to mention the WW foods which are loaded with salt and devoid of any nutrition. Its a money making business and its extremely flawed. Call me a tool as well if you like.
