    Hey,
I recently moved to Ireland, do you have to register with your local GP to be able to use them here? Like in the UK you have to along and register your details before you can phone and make appointments etc. Do you have to do that in Ireland or can you just phone up your local GP and make an appointment...

I know you have to register in the UK because the state pays for GP fees, but here I'd have to pay for an appointment, so can I just phone up and make an appointment?

PS Mods feel free to move this thread I couldnt find an appropriate board

If you want to attend a doctor as a private patient, there is nothing to stop you ringing any doctor and making an appointment. Some doctors might not take new patients if they are busy.

If you are entitled to a "Medical card", you need to register with a doctor.
