Lower leg issue gp or physio?

Started back playing footie last august and suffered from "shin splints" after a few months, they eventually went away and have not suffered since untill about 3 weeks ago.

I recently started playing more frequently and added more weight to my work outs, I assume it had just resurfaced due to extra workload my body wasn't used to and my hamstrings and calf muscles were very tight, however over the past few days the pain isn't really in my shins but more around the inside of my ankle area on both feet, it can extend to the inside of the shin bone (and to the outside of the shin on my right leg)

Also the since yesterday I have sensations in the soles of my feet and I was thinking maybe it could be compartment syndrome however there is no swelling or pain on my shins when I press the sides of them or around my ankle when I bend my foot back or upwards.

I am slightly worried and probably wont be able to see anyone till tuesday but should I go to a gp or a physio?

I always recommend people ask friends and family for a referral. It's not so much a matter of what type of professional you see - the key is to find an individual that has a good reputation. The most important thing is to find someone that is good at what they do and has treated former patients well. It also helps to find someone that is involved in, or has a good knowledge of, the sport you're involved with.

If you let us know what city you're in, perhaps one of us can recommend someone close to your location.
