    Hi,

    what exactly is the "data usage" that costs 99c a day?

    is the WiFi only free in certain locations? how about at home?

    can you buy an iPhone abroad and insert an O2 sim yourself?

    A lot of applications download data from the internet, such as the Weather App, the Stock Market app, apps you install yourself and of course the Web browser.

    You can download up to 50Mb per day for 99c, which isn't too bad. Of course, if you go over 50Mb, it will be exceptionally expensive.

    If you use your own WiFi, it is of course free. Some places do provide free WiFi also, but most places charge for it.

    As for purchasing abroad, have a look at the stickies at the top of the forum for the various options on purchasing abroad. Note, in some cases, you will have to unlock your phone if purchased abroad to use it in Ireland.

    How was that for a quick answer?

    (I'm waiting for iTunes to download, btw)

    Don't use iPhone with data turned on, on speakeasy. It will cost you a fortune. It costs 99c for your first mb per day and the next 49 are free. It sounds like great value but if you use email and read a few webpages everyday it will cost you 99c every day, that's over 30 euro a month before you've spent a cent on phoning and texting. I was spending 50 euro a month, before I got an iPhone I was only spending 20-30 a month.

    If you don't want to be tied into a long contract you can buy the phone on speakeasy and then switch to a clear sim bill pay option with a data add on. I switch to the clear sim 50 plan (50min, 50 texts) for 15 euro a month and got a data addon of 250 mb a month for an extra 7.50 and halfed my costs!

    I wouldn't spend 20 euros on a mobile phone bill in a year.:eek:

    sounds like it better to buy a phone and a Touch;)
