hi, i'm a complete novice.. have just started sailing... and biking.

i'd like to buy waterproof gear... but am just wandering, can i kill 2 birds with one stone?

will waterproof gear, for cycling, be ok for sailing?

if the sailing gets more seriouse, i can fork out for better gear....

can anyone recomend a good shop... online or in dublin city centre.

    cheers

A lot of waterproofs for sailing are also intended to keep you warm. So if you do go for the lighter stuff, make sure you have good warm clothing on underneath.

What type of boat will you be sailing, a keelboat, cruiser or a dinghy?

I sail on a cruiser and I have a set of Musto salopettes (baggy dungarees!) for ~120 and a good pair of sailing boots ( ~100). ~220quid may seem expensive but it is money well spent, believe me. Other than that you can just get a waterproof top suitable for biking or sailing and wear a good jumper underneath. Normal waterproof trousers will just rip on a boat and normal wellies will fill with water if you fall in.
