How to fix metabolism after prescription steroids?

    Hi,
If this is in the wrong forum please feel free to move it!

I've gained over 14 pounds in the past 2 years because of prescription steroids. I was taking them on and off for periods of about 3 months at a time. I'm only 5'3" so this weight gain has seriously affected my figure and I've got rid of most of my "skinny clothes".

Anyway.... since finishing the steroid treatment (maybe 6 months ago) I've been following a low calorie diet and doing more cardio exercise but I can't lose any weight.

Anyone got any ideas for me? Thanks :)

Metabolisms are flexible. You can raise or lower yours depending on what you eat and how active you are.

Make sure what you are eating is best nutrition you can get for the calories. Cut out anything with empty cals (white carbs like sugar, fizzy drinks, cakes, white bread etc) and make sure you are getting enough quality protein, healthy fats and green veg.

Try weight training, and lift heavy. You won't start to bulge like Arnie, but you'll send a clear signal to your body that it's under new management, so time to change the priorities.

Emmm, it's different every day! I eat pretty healthily cos I've a digestive illness ... fruit and veg every day, no white flour, low fat, lots of fish and brown rice and the likes.

Whenever I'm well I go to the gym and do a lot of cardio stuff. My heart-rate gets very high because I've been ill. My BMI is 22.3, it was about 19 - 20 before the steroid weight.
