Opera 10 for sheer speed. Nothing matches it.
Firefox for class add-ons and flash block utilities.
Microsoft Explorer ONLY as an absolute last restort.

IE. Tried firefox and it seemed to clash with msn so I uninstalled it. Maybe it was a coincidence but I put the problem down to firefox.

I'm accustomed to Firefox, have been for the past 4 years or so, but I really should change since I've seen the bloody thing use more memory in the task manager than a medium-spec computer game I tabbed out of.

    Christ.

Firefox, because I hate Safari and I'm too lazy to try Chrome or Opera.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,789 ✭✭✭✭ScumLord

Crome, does exactly what it says on the tin. Even firefox is a fat bloated mess now. Chrome works instantly I've noticed firefox hangs a bit when I open it, only use IE when I'm forced to.

sorry to the opera people.... My mentor didn't see it as a point of interest....

Though I use it on my phone :P

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,128 ✭✭✭thorbarry

I used Firefox for the past couple of years, and recently changed to Crome, its much faster than firefox... MUCH

As mentioned above (with link), try Opera Ten!
Be prepare to be surprised. :)
Friggin' fast and also has a new software ability for slower old pc's too to speed up even more. Awesome app.

    No Opera = poll daft.

Just spotted excuse so mentor = also daft.

Chrome because IE8 drove me to it and I'm glad it did :)
It's noticeably faster and has hardly any compatibility issues.

    Netscape navigator.

    Firefox.

Have Firefox, IE, Chrome, Opera and Safari installed though.

Don't really like the look of chrome so I don't use it and I don't use Safari for much the same reason.

And using IE is too dangerous to bother with imo.

Firefox... I've been using it for years, and have become familiar with shortcuts, etc., that make browsing effortless! I tried Chrome briefly and found myself getting frustrated that some Firefox things didn't work on it! eg. I couldn't drag and drop tabs into favourites. Opera is good too, but no reason to change Firefox at this stage.

    IE is horrid.

Firefox, because it was light-years ahead of the steam-powered IE when I started using it. I believe IE have upped their game since, and I really like Chrome's interface, but I'm used to Firefox now so it's here to stay.

It also has innumerable add-ins, some of them useful, most of them pretty pointless - gotta catch 'em all!

Use Chrome most of the time. It really does'nt compare to IE or Firefox, I find it in a different league. Love the uncluttered look of it too. Have'nt tries Opera yet, though if i'm honest. I use IE from time to time because Chrome doesnt support some plug-ins

I do. And.... get this - my machine only takes 10 minutes from pressing the on switch to being in full operational mode.

What a time to be alive!

I was kind of hoping that you would realise that there are more fitting forums for this kind of thing...
If you look at the poll resuls for the other one, only a handful of browsers have actually been voted for

Yes, I see your point, but I am looking for everyone's Browser opinion, not just the techie/windows forum users.

I'm curious to find out what kind of browsers people with personal issues use, do you think the mods would have any problems with me putting up a poll in PI?

Funnily enough, the poll results for this thread and the one I linked to are pretty damn similar

Everyone on an internet bulletin board's opinion?
That in itself is heavily biased towards "techies".

If you did this poll on Grafton street your results would be wildly different.

I used to use internet explorer on my lapper (Dell) but then one day it stopped working for some reason so I downloaded safari and have been using it ever since. Don't really notice any differences between them bar the layout tbh.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,691 ✭✭✭Lia_lia

Firefox since around the time it came out.
    Because I really hated IE.

Now I still use Firefox, because I'm just used to it. I use Safari the odd time. F*ck IE.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,962 ✭✭✭jumpguy

Been using Firefox for about 3 or 4 years now. Before that I used IE, and in the very early days, I remember a thing called MSN Explorer.

Tried everything else, I use Opera Mini on my mobile phone, it's class. I tried Chrome but it's too minimalistic, I like my weather add-ons, on-screen RSS feeds, and I have add-ons that show stuff that's fairly useful for astronomy.
I've only never tried Safari because I resent the fact that Apple are being dirty sneaky cocks and everytime I update iTunes they try to install Safari on my computer aswell (you have to opt-out). Why would I want to use that ugly slow piece of ****?
Opera is good but I just didn't like something about it.

    Firefox ftw tbh.
