What is cost of a simple will?

    My spouse and I have gone to our solicitor for a simple will for our family. I am wondering what are typical fees for this. Nothing unusual in the will. Our solicitor is being very vague about the fees and has lumped the fee into other non-related fees for a mortgage. I have asked for a breakdown but haven't gotten it yet.

    Ok, sounds like your heading for a fall. Any solicitor that is being vague is bad news, especially in property/wills as these are areas were it is very easy to estimate the costs. He is obliged by law to give you an estimate or how he will calculate his fees.

    Ring him today and ask him for a written estimate.

    A standard will should be at most 100-150 euro. Many firms will charge nothing if you are giving them other work.
