Windows XP keeps on rebooting

Okay I have got a head wrecking problem with a clients PC.

They were having issue where when they logged in as soon as it got passed the welcome screen they got a blue screen with a page fault error. The exact error was: "page fault in non paged area". I booted into safe mode and turn off the paging file option in Performance Options. This got rid of the blue screen but now it just reboots at the exact moment when the desktop is about to load.

I also did a chkdsk and although three errors were found on the initial scan, subsequent scans didn't find errors. I also used memtest86+ and the RAM seems fine.

Has anyone ever come across an error like this before?

i think there is an option in safe mode to turn off auto reboot (not realy sure though) might be worth a look

Still sounds like a hardware issue - have you checked the motherboard for bad caps? google images for bad motherboard capacitors

Sorry I forget to say that I tried that but it just went into a blue screen and didn't reboot so I had to do a hard shut down.

Cheers, I'll check the caps and see of they are bulging or have popped.
