Getting a copy of an x-ray?

I'm looking for a bit of information.
Can anyone tell me how i would go about getting a copy of an x-ray that I got taken about a year ago. I broke my arm in a couple of places and would like the x-rays as a kind of memento(before and after pics).
What is the procedure involved in asking for them?
Can they just be e-mailed to me, posted out or do i have to go and collect them?
Would be grateful for any help.
Feel free to move this thread if I have placed it in the wrong place.
    Thanks

quite a few people ask for them - I sometimes have to give copies to people because they are seeing a specialist in another hospital and then insist they frame them! - try contacting the x-ray department you got these done with and they may be able to print you a copy if they have a computerised system.

If they use a plain film system then they may not be able to give you these. They may also be able to give you a CD with the images.

There may be a small charge - but ask first.

Thanks for the help. Will have to ask them. Also I like the idea of framing them. Could look well.

Will have to go and collect and specify that you want the film and not a cd with the films on them as is happening more nowadays

If a year old they will be in storage and may take a day or so from request

Will be €10 per film charge usually

We can only give out copy x-rays if we have a letter of request from a doctor with his signature. I'm sure your specialist will write you out a letter. We may do them for you straightaway, or ask you to come back in a couple of days to collect them.
We charge e35 for copy x-rays.
