I have the A200 and I think it's a great DSLR. I'm only starting out. I've some pics below in my pix.ie signature that were taken with the A200. I don't know what the difference is with the new model? It might be worth buying with the 75-300mm lens as you're kinda limited with the kit lens.

In a word - Yes. It's excellent as a starter DSLR. And as the model ranging is moving on, I understand that there are some fabulous deals to be had on it.

This particular camera has been discussed extensively over the last week. Have a browse back through the forum and you'll get the gist of it.

For a starter DSLR its perfect, as ACD said, look back through the old threads to get more info. but if you can get it at the right price, go for it

From what I hear the A230 is a completely redesigned camera interms of ergonomics from the A200, so don't rely on a200 reviews!. Having said that I have no doubt the a230 would be a decent camera and great for a beginner! However I have heard complaints about the size/shape of the A230, a problem that never existed with the A200. My advice, go to a shop and pick it up and see if you like how it feels. If you do, the features on it are good and it's reasonably priced! :)
