    Sweet free shipping.

Seriously though, it is utterly pointless putting a sight on a pistol. But if you really must, I reckon something small like this red dot would probably be best.

Apart from it being shag all use other than cosmetic, think about the practical side of things, eg holster

Practical Pistol, fast target acquisition, aesthetic appeal...all perfectically good reasons put a scope on a pistol.
although a lot of scopes cant be zeroed in for close ranges,
    like this:
    http://shop.ehobbyasia.com/accessories/scopes-red-dots/red-dots-sight/ea-multi-reticle-reflex-red-dot-sight-auto-brightness-bk.html

and some will not hold zero at all.

what pistol are you looking to mount the sight on?

Scopes, or sights to be more precise (since they're rarely magnified on airsoft pistols) are quite common on race guns. What sight you want depends on what the mounting style is. A Doktor style sight is mounted in direct replacement of the rear open sight, where the likes of an Aimpoint Micro-T1 would be mounted to a frame mounted rail.

The slide mounted option is lighter, cheaper and easier to self-install but suffers from having to reacquire the sight after firing as it obviously moves with the slide. They're also prone to losing their zero fairly quick (depending on quality). Unlike the rail option, these kind of sights rarely have an impact on your choice of holster either, a point which sees them popular with SERPA, Safariland and Fobus users.

Rail mounted options depend on the rail choices for your frame type. They range from integrated grip/rails to ones which require a bit more craftsmanship to install (some drilling and tapping is all it is, but it's trickier than it sounds). The big disadvantage is the size as the rail itself is bulky enough, even before the sight is added. It also alters the centre of gravity quite dramatically, something which will also effect the recoil pattern. The advantage, however, is a choice of sights on an elevated plate and the fact that they're independent of the slide means they're less subject to the force of the recoil, making them more stable and also easier to reacquire.

Also drilling and tapping pot metal is not as solid or permanent as RS.

Steel frames, when you can get them, are essential. Apart from that some careful milling and reinforcing is about all that can be hoped for.

You canet competition holsters that fit them... but its pretty silly for combat imo

Combat shooting = fast, furious, and reflex. With a pistol, if you have to actually aim, you can hit things easily, but if you're that close/ desperate, a reflex shot usually does it if you have the trigger time.

In cosmetic terms, please report to hell, my good mate Lucifer has reserved a spot for you I hear.

Desert eagles look nice with red dot scopes.

They look even nicer without one tbh....

No pistol looks better with a scope... Unless its an ATM hardballer, and a laser sight... of course.

That's it. I'm getting one just to spite you. USP Compact with a nice 3-9x50 and a bipod.

    OI,

I didn't claim it was perfect, but it is at least equally trashy and chintzy if not identical in style. Silver 45, dirty big laser sight, I can sleep soundly at night knowing that in a pistol pimp off, I'll have that bad boy at hand, heck, I might even hold it sideways, which will make even less sense.

Stage two in my sell stuff off and save some money plan is to buy a full steel danmu gp30 for my own full steel ak74, then along the lines a kobra sight, Fiach has all that on his ak74 and the weight is ridiculous, but its the coolest ak around :D

Plum furniture and all, very very cool, and I hope to have the same.

Extra weight = extra workout, needed badly for someone who plays the game rarely and who's only other hobbys are drinking and smoking :D

There is a lot to be said for the fun factor, m60 users know this, scope on pistol users know this. :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,205 ✭✭✭Firekitten

Yeah lemming is a member of the m60 workout club.... I can only lift the damn thing for short periods at a time!

I dont paticularly want popaye arms... y'all excuse me from this tactical e-penis competition...

i think a scope on a pistol is a waste of time,,,,, pistol shooting, along with several types of shooting work better imo using your instincts.

+1....with thermo....and this guy knows his airsoft....

I do like a nice race pistol with the red dot attached personally, but a proper telescopic scope on a handgun is a bit much unless its been heavily modified to be used in a sniper role, think kjws mk1 carbine
