Which Poker Site?

Around 3 years ago I used to play a fair bit of online poker (mostly cash games NL .50/1 blinds - 6 players).

I started originally using VC bet and did quite well and got my bank up fairly high (over a thousand in a few weeks playing poker). Problem I then had was if I got a couple of bad beats I would push up a level to 1/2 blinds and or 2/4 trying to get money back quicker but just more on tilt really - I eventually lost all the profit I made - it was a good learning curve.

I them moved over to P.Power poker (which I think is the same site). I found I got an awful lot of bad beats - mental stuff. Guys getting runner runner a few times over - so I stopped with that site too. I also tried Ladbrokes and again a lot of bad beats and became disilusioned with it all.

I then stopped playing online for the last while or so. I recently started back using Full Tilt Poker - while I have found there to best much less bad beats - I have found it generally harder to do well on this site and make a profit. I think there is definitely much less bad beats than other sites.

Just wondering have people got any recommendations for other sites to try for roughly .50\1 cash NL games where it might be easier to make a bit of profit?

If some of the sites have the same software - are they all going to be the same then?

I have seen rakeback mentioned a lot on the forum, but still dont understand what it is. I take it is something to do with getting money back from the site you join after playing a certain amount of hands?

    Thanks in advance

    OP,
All sites have the same RNG (the games are fair and not rigged)
You will get bad beats, and its part of poker. You will run bad, and you will run good - its all down to variance (and what you perceive as a bad beat)
Basically, you shouldn't be looking to move site due to bad beats, as its nothing to do with the site. Bad beats happen and there are times where you will think that it cannot get possibly worse, but of course it will.

True that some sites standard is better than others and it will be harder to make a profit. FT is generally assumed higher standard but I have no experience.

Rakeback is a deal between you and an affiliate where they offer you a certain % of Rakeback. This affiliate is linked to the poker site. Say for instance you get a 30% rakeback deal, this means that you get 30% of all the rake you pay at the table back.

It is not allowed to discuss RB openly on the forums, or to ask or promote it. It is allowed to be discussed in PM and advertised in signatures.

I also recommend you read the forum sticky on the poker forum guide.

Generally jumping on the sites offering bad beats and its rigged etc... bandwagon is a sure sign of an inexperienced poker player and posting about it isn't received well here.

I also must state that the games at 5/1 and 1/2 have got 5x times as hard since 3 yrs ago, so maybe consider dropping down level if you are out of practice.
Read that poker guide and hopefully it will enlighten more.

Cheers for your overall reply, though I never mentioned anything about stuff being rigged.

I mentioned badbeats being worse on one site than another.

Thanks will have a look at the links to :)

    You are welcome :)
In general the too many bad beats on one site speech comes along with the rigged claim.

Why why you consider one site has more bad beats than the other?

The more logical explanation would be that it was the variance over a small-medium sample of hands.

This. What you lose out on rakeback you gain on the huge softness of the games.

Both sites give you rakeback good sign up and bodog has 500 dollar monthly reload and cash for points

Yeah Betfair is 30% rakeback up to $1499 in rake. Anything ober that you get 40% rakeback. With Betfairs first deposit bonus of $1750, you can get close to 60% rakeback during the course of the bonus.

Bodog does offer rakeback but affiliates are not allowed to advertise it on their homepages. Only site members are able to access the rakeback deals and %s are set at 25%.

Yeah I know they offer rakeback, but none of them match 50% on ipoker really, unless you include signup bonuses.

    What does 25% RB = in BB/100?

The ongame software is currently the buggiest load of crap ever, but for anyone who only plays one or two tables at a time and doesn't mind ctrl-alt-del ing every half hour, the value's grand.

This may be off topic but Ian mentioned that betfair rake back is 40% if you rake more than $1499 a month. Can someone confirm if that is dollars or pounds as I was informed last week that it was pounds? Pounds wouold seem unfair considering we play with dollars on the tables
