Irish Society of Infectious Disease & Tropical Medicine?

Are there any possibilities or plans for an Irish Society of Infectious Disease and/or Tropical Medicine with similar rights and power to the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine here in the UK. With the increasing numbers of Irish citizens traveling abroad, the increasing amounts of immigration from tropical countries to Ireland and challenges such as swine flu facing all nations, shouldn't Ireland also have an officially recognised, government funded institution for the prevention of communicable disease? Surely Dublin is lacking an Irish Hospital of Tropical Medicine and an Irish School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine?

The Irish Society of Travel Medicine is alive and well. They run the RCSI diploma in tropical medicine, with the department of tropical medicine in RCSI. I got their newsletter today. They do regular travel updates too.
I am not sure that they have rights or powers though.
