Just wondering if anyone has owned one of these and what experience they had with them?

    Cheers

    They're a good laptop.

The RGB LED screen is considered one of the best screens used on any laptop, its very good in terms of contrast, black levels etc. They are known to run pretty hot - not in the sense of 'overheating', but just that its not the type of laptop you'd actually want to use on your lap. They are already available with the ATI HD4670 in other markets - it is almost twice as fast as the 3670, so if you plan on doing any gaming i'd wait for that.

I'm thinking of maybe going for the DELL Studio XPS 13 as it s a more portable size. I believe this has the same 'overheating' problem though. Is that one significantly different to the '16' other then size wise?

Also I've seen in the reviews on the DELL website that these have back-lit keyboards. But I can't see this option anywhere on the accessory page. Can somebody confirm if this is available on all the XPS studio 13s?

Both the Studios XPS 13 and 16 come with backlit keyboards as standard.

The 16 has the better quality screen and better graphics card, 1 extra USB port. After that its pritty much the same between the two, ram and CPU are the same (as standard).

13 is 2.2 kg and 16 is 2.91 kg, so weight wise there isn't that much difference.

Head into a laptop shop and have a look around for 13" and 16" laptops to play around on, see which screen size you prefer.

Oh and don't worry about the heat "issue" it doesn't affect how the laptop runs, with every laptop if you use it for long times/doing heavy stuff it gets hot. Just make sure you don't cover up the vents and everything will be fine:)

Both are actually in Pc WOrld in Jervis centre. Preferred the 13 for its size and weight. Currently still looking around trying to see if I could HP, toshiba or something else. Although the DELL xps Studio seems to be ahead for looks.

If you intend buying the Studio XPS 13, I'd recommend you wait until they fix the overheating/freezing issue. I've had a few replacements and all had this problem. I ended up getting a refund.

    Take a look at this.
