Hi all this may have been done before but I will ask it anyways, I like swimming in open water but i dont know too many places to do it yet in my area. I drive a lot with my job so I would be interested in hearing about other good places to swim, so if you have any could you please add to this

The places I have swam so far are

Kilbeg Pier Headford - Didnt really enjoy this swim, a lot of high reeds in the water catching my feet and arms, didnt go back

    Annaghdown Pier
    - This is a decent swim, the water is pretty clear, there is a few islands in view that I would like to swim out to but I tend to stick close to the shore due to speedboats further out

Loughrea Lake - A very good swim, water is crystal clear with a nice sandy floor, not too deep either. Distance bouys are marked out as well from the local Predator tri club

River Shannon Athlone - Swam this for triathlone this year, murky floor. Only swam downstream, current is quite strong so would not fancy an out and back course
