Has anyone reported hotel self-reviews to Trip Advisor before ?

I've just submitted a review of a hotel I stayed in recently and while going over the other reivews I noted that there was an awful lot of reviews along the lines of "Hotel was wonderful in every way, staff couldn't do enough to help, etc . . ." type of reviews from people who have only ever reviewed a single hotel.

I know people have to start on TripAdvisor somewhere, but I can't see all these people picking this one hotel to start their TA reviewing career on.

I've sent TA a mail, but I'm wondering if others have done the same before ? My main gripe is that this hotel is ranked at #2 in the resort and there is no way it is that good, so I feel people are being tricked in this case. It's not that the hotel is awful - I would definitely return there - but their method of posting reviews like this isn't good.

I do pro bono work work Tripadvisor and my only advice to you is to e-mail support@tripadvisor.com

Tripadvisor does not look kindly on reviews by hotel management or affiliates and deals with them very harshly.

Some hotels have been known to have been refused to be even shown on Tripadvisor, however, this is a very rare number of cases because of their impersonation of fictitious guests.

I am currently propped up in bed in a hotel in Waterford which has rave reviews, not from hotel staff I imagine, but I disagree with most of them already but at least my review will be sincere.

The odd thing about TA is that people usually approach the internet to have a gripe about things but TA has a lot of people using the site to speed well of their experiences. The people who leave JBRs(Just back reports) on the Travel forum is a prime example.

So support@tripadvisor.com is your best bet to bring it to their attention and they are always very fast in replying.
