actually maybe someone should add him to the 1000 mile challenge....

he seems to have done about 60 miles already I think...this twitter thing is new to me.

She said of Izzard's feat: "It's an idea that's been bubbling for 10 years."

So he couldn't have started training and getting prepared at any point other than four weeks ago then?

Four Words - NO CHANCE IN HELL.

Absolutely crazy idea - I'm an avid runner with 4 marathons under my belt and I wouldn't dream of trying this........here comes the pain Eddie:rolleyes:

On his fifth day today according to his twitter update.
Doing around 30 miles a day it seems.
His feet are fooked already, arches are destroyed, won't last another 4 days by the looks of it.

Thats still good going 120 miles in 4 days..... does he have cut of times or can he just take al day?

Looks as if he's planning on around 5mph pace.
Set off at 8:30am this morning, set to arrive at destination around 2:30 pm, not sure of what distance he's doing today.

Fair play to him - that's an incredible achievement for anyone!

All this marathon training lark is clearly unecessary, I'm just going to turn up on the day and run. That 21 mile training run can go and lump it.

LSR's = waste of time. Don't forget your smokes.

Thats the risk with people doing stuff like this, other then think there is no need to train. Great to complete the 1000 miles and well done.

I think many people on here are holding back their feelings about his little adventure. :D

Judging by his physique, I'm guessing he didn't do much long distance training prior to his adventure(he does not look like a long distance/ultra runner). I think it's commendable what he achieved.

he ran up one side of britain and back down again in between he did some running up north.
There was a camera crew following him around.

I have a feeling there is a bit of the green eyed monster around!!!

I think he did brill....... He didn't threaten HG world record at anystage but he did/is raising money for charity.
David Willaims did something similar a ouple of years ago for sport relief when he swam the english channel at beginning of his challange he could swim more than a lenght of the pool. He did so well he was in premilary nominations for bbc sports personalty of the year.

I think these things are good for raising the profile of ndurance sports and as well as rasing money for charity I'm sure they inspire people to get up of the couch and get active..

    Well done Eddie......

I wouldn't like to take anything away from his 'remarkable achievement' by airing my views.

I don't get the reason for the sarcasm, is it you just don't like Eddie Izzard or something else?

I don't think I'd ever even heard of him before this to be honest.

Twas a BBC camera crew . They travelled on a tricycle and in a van.
And yes i do believe there is a hint of the green eyed monster because of what Eddie Izzard has done. I'm not sure if he ran exactly 1000miles or 999miles but the fact he ran up and down britain does it for me.

I admire what he has done over the last 7 weeks. I

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 55 ✭✭CaoimheX

I was thinking along the same lines myself, up and down Britain in 7 weeks is fantastic for a relative "non" athlete, I was impressed anyway...., good for him and great for the charity
