Hi there I just got UPC installed and speed good and all that BUT! The modem/wireless router they supplied is a Cisco EPC2425.
I need to get into the advanced or should I say more advanced settings of this router I know the default username/password is BLANK and thats fine, But when you want to dig deeper into the config you get a prompt again for a username/password and I would like to know does anybody know what this is? I rang tech support about this and .................................................................................:mad::mad::mad:
Need I say More they dont have a clue or just wont tell me.
    Please Help!!

You know about leaving Username and Pwd blank. When you're in, click on the 'Setup' menu option again. A whole list of options appears below and to the left. You may find what you're looking for in there.

Make sure you note what you have at the moment before you change... otherwise you're in a world of fun explaining to tech support how exactly you broke your broadband :-)

Thanks for the reply yes I know the setup options its even deeper that that. I got some help here about it so thanks to everyone.
And yes would not like trying to explane anything to those tech guys (world of hurt:eek:) ...... Thank god for the reset switch:)

Disable the Cisco wireless or edit the SSID.

What you talking about is "Bridge" mode where you only have a Modem and use a complete separate router and Airpoint.

I hope you understand what you are doing and have a separate ethernet router and not a DSL modem/Router.

If you want to do that better to get a basic modem/ATA with no router and WiFi from UPC, then nothing to configure.

Yes it would and that is what I thought I would get but they landed me with this.
And yes I do know what Im doing and your right bridge is the way to go just thought might aswell make use of it since I have it.
If I edit the SID it just automaticly puts UPC infront of whatever i put in "Pain in the BUTT:confused:" But anyway not to worry Ill just plug in yet another box :D

That looks to me to be only a wireless router, you would still need to connect it to a modem I'm sure, UPC will only work with cable modems btw, not dsl

Sorry to hijack the thread , but thebproblem I'm having is that when I try to download something , all open pages are slow to load . Surely this shouldn't happen with 20 mb Upc

I'm having the same problem. A page can be connecting for 1 minute+ before it begins loading. Anybody have any ideas?

Its a DNS problem i think. I had UPC 20meg installed last week. I changed to the OpenDNS as i did when i was on Eircom, its flying now. I love the connection :p.

One of an enormously long list of bugs with the Cisco modem.

    what i found is...

    Initial login leave blank.
You should be presented with a set / change password section.
Leave the exsisting password field blank (because it is) and type the password that you want it to be going forward and repeat.
Now when you go to access the modem, leave the username blank and fill in your new password.
In Setup you'll see all the nice things to play with (IP Assigning, Port Forwarding / Filtering). These are all in the Setup Tab and not the Advanced Tab (seemingly thats for the IP Phone setup only).

It worked for me and i've all my ports nicely forwarded etc... :)
