anyone think they are acceptable guitars as standard, never mind that they are cheap guitars, i mean would anyone here actually say use them for a gig or something

Don't see why not. As long as it sounds good, stays in tune and works properly, there's no reason not to. Besides, less worry about it getting damaged or nicked cos it's so cheap.

my first guitar was an SX,terrible guitar for anything except playing chords, always goes out of tune and frets are very rough

I had one. It was a nice guitar for the money, the stock pickups sounded surprisingly good. I also had an SX bass...when I say had... I mean that I modded it into oblivion. The bass as it exists only has two SX parts (body & neck plate) but the stock bass was pretty nice too.

You just gotta pick and choose and make sure you get a nice playing one. A few cheap mods & a setup will give you a solid instrument for little money.

oh not i'm going to buy one, already have one just interested to see what ppl think of them but with my personal experience, i find them extremely un-playable but then again it's pretty much the entry level model
