try a shooting range or gun shop or something if you go in to corrib tacle they have a load of bullets beacause they sell real guns they might be able to give you some pistol casings

Try Saracen Exports in the UK. They do WW2 deacts but they also do inert rounds for them. Pistol rounds come in packs of twenty if I remember correctly. About €25 if I remember right, plus shipping. Don't ask me what the shipping is, it's been ages since I used them last.

Maybe ask over on the shooting forum?
Also make sure it's legal to own empty casings when you have no licence in some countries it is not.

I brought empty AK47 and glock empty shell casings back from Latvia and nothing was said to me at the airport so I'd assume it's fine.

To my knowledge most ranges ont allow you to remove centerfire cartridge cases from the premesis because they can be reloaded to fire again. Bit of a bugger really since I'm not sure there are any specific rules to procuring deact or empty shell casings from abroad.

Thought give Mr. Ahern a week or so and I'm sure we will have something in place to cover it

I was of the impression there was a distinction drawn between empty and inert, in that inert are spent rounds but empties are shells with an intact primer but are devoid of powder and bullet. The empties being at least licence only and the inert being licence free.

Casing are considered components of a firearm so under the eyes of the law a no no without a licence for that caliber. I've heard of one court case about it.

Reloading still isn't legal here either. Why not just photshop them in?

Dex, Saracen Exports won't ship inert rounds outside the UK Mainland/NI afaik.
I'm looking for a belt of spent 5.56mm for my 249, also a few ACP45 and
    9mm x 19 inerts also if anyone has a source ... :)

//EDIT// just saw Rew's post - are you sure about that ???
I was advised fired and reassembled rounds were legal and ok to possess ???

Spartan Exports don't export? How odd. My last dealing with them was actually in the UK so I just assumed they would have helped.

If that's the case, how do military surplus stores get away with selling spent link belts of 7.62 NATO? I've gotten a couple of those for around €15-20 in a couple of different stores.

Read about that case also, I believe it was thrown out thought. What wonderful laws we have, but i supose it could be worse.
In Jamaica you can get a 5 for even one spent casing, which has really helped clamp dont on gun and gang crime.

I believe airsoftscotland or airsoft world ship selection packs of inert rounds, such as BA 1970s NI & Gulf War I

... by keeping 40% of the adult male population behind bars.

    I'm noting parallels ;)

No problem with that but the problem surrounds the components required to assembly a live round. Primers are high explosive (a tiny amount though), then there is the powder. Under Irish law you require an authorisation from the Gardai to be allowed to reload and its all still in limbo. Perfectly legal up north though.

The brass bins at shooting ranges are overflowing with empty cases. Some people hold on to brass stock piling for when the reloading situation becomes clearer.

try firesupport in the uk, they do some rather cheap belts for the m249, ignore the expensive G&p stuff on the site and drop them an email

So does that mean my father in law has a licence for a 40mm and 105mm pieces coz he has those spent shell casings on the mantlepiece?

    Respect!

    :)
