Nokia 6300 - Radio - Connect an enhancement

    Hello,
I was wondering if anyone else has an issue with the 6300 and the radio.

When I connect the earphones (HS 47) it says "Please connect an enhancement". I've tried to use the radio on somone else's 6300 and have the same issue.

Has anyone got the radio to work on the 6300?

I've now bought 3 nokia earphones and none work.

    Any help appreciated.

    Regards EoC

Thats quite funny, since you have tired 2 phones, and 3 headsets. The Hs-47 should work with the 6300. Have you tried a normal 2.5mm set of headphones yet?

Since it's unlikely you've got multiple dud headphones the socket is probably the problem with a loose connection, this seems to be a common issue with 6300's.

Beware of using headphones other than official nokia 6300 designs in it since the 6300's 2.5mm plug actually has a barrel of 2.4mm (so much for standards), and it seems the socket is also slightly narrower than usual so if you force a normal larger plug (or some can be even wider than 2.5mm) into the socket that can cause a loose connection.

Hello Democrat, Thanks for the response.
This seems the most plausible explaination.
Since it didn't work on two phones then it seems to be a common problem.
Is there any way to fix a loose connection?
    Regards EoC

Send it away for a repair to fonemenders or mprc

+1 Davy. EoC, though it may be a simple case of bending back spring contacts, it could also be a disconnection, unless you have a friend who knows what they're doing then the repair guys are a good bet, I'd ask for a quote first based on a description of the problem, though they won't know for sure what's wrong and how much to fix until they diagnose it. Best of luck with it.

    Hello,
Thanks for the advise. It was a simple fix. Just needed to bend back the springs with a pin.
    Regards to All
