Goggles!

Im sure this is something that is often asked so apologies for repeating but would love advice on goggles. I have bought so many goggles over the years and when i think i have found the right ones they let me down. I have bought two pairs of kaiman aqua sphere goggles in the past six months and initially they were great but after a short while they start letting water in and i wear contact lenses so i especially dont want it to happen. I think i need goggles that are bigger around the eye socket. Just wondering if anyone can suggest anything to me and perhaps point me in the right direction to where i can see a good range of goggles in Dublin or surrounding areas.

    Thanks!

Have you tried Swedish goggles? They don't have a gasket (the seal between the goggle and your eye) but they don't leak. Very reliable goggles.

Hey you got to check these out, i use them for triathlon very wide view and clear etc. They are a big goggle and might suit your requirements to not put pressure too close to your eyes.

They're working for me but one thing i've found is that goggles are something you need to try out deffo not one size fits all.

    Hi Shadyladee.

I'd be very interested in hearing how you get on with those new goggles. I wear contact lenses too & water leaking in to the goggles is a nightmare. I have presrciption goggles and they were brilliant at first but after a while they began to let in the water & they're too expensive to keep replacing. So I'm going back to wearing the contacts and normal goggles. I haven't been swimming for ages because of all the hassle but I'm hoping to start back again in September.

    Hi Second time,

I have only swam with the swedish goggles once since I got them, but admittedly, they were great. Often I find goggles are great at the beginning, and then stop working for me so time will tell with these. From using them, I think my problem had been the drag when I swim that let the water in, but this wasnt a problem when i used these.

They are cheap so its certainly worth checking them out, i bought mine on the speedo uk site. I also found a lot of reviews of them on this site which might help you

I used to tell my swimmers to never buy a goggle that does not have an adjustable nose piece. I remember when speedo released a certain style of goggle that looked cool and was expensive but in reality were crap. Everyone seemed to buy into the hype, sure at first they were fine but after some time the middle piece which was made of silicone began to stretch. Swimmers would then think "my goggles need to be tightened" which only made the problem worse. Speedo must have made a killing on them.

Personally I used to love the Aquablade goggles, they were the same as the swedish/racing goggles but made of silicone so they did not hurt so much (although you do get used to the swedish one).

So to finish, if the goggle does not have an adjustable nose-piece and does not fit your eyes then don't buy them.

Hi unpossible, I completely agree with you, I remember when I was younger, my fav goggles were maru or something, and they had an adjustable nose bit, and since then alot of the goggles I have tried havnt had the adjustable bit, and thats prob why they havnt worked for me, I kept thinking I needed googles with bigger eye pieces. The swedish goggles are still working out for me, and since they are so affordable I will give them a go for a while.
