Fountain pens

I can't find the right place to put this in. If someone wants to shove it around to another forum that would get a better response PLEASE do so.

My current fountain pen came out of my pocket in two :O i know i shouldn't really be carrying it around in my pocket but anyway.

I need a new one. I've gone onto parkerpen.com and their "Chooser Guide" is for colours with other colour trims. I want something high quality and under or not much above the €100 euro mark. What types work best?

I had something that looks like this with the nib a bit shorter and more curved from left to right (assuming the pen is standing up)

I've seen pens that have a bigger and wider tip that comes down more. Is this just design?

Are there any shops that sell them around Dublin?

    Hi wolfric,

try the pen shop in Dun Laoghaire shopping centre (top floor if I remember correctly). They had a quality selection of fountain pens when I bought mine there (a couple of years ago).

Yes, I have gotten a few fountain pens there, not the cheapest compared to the net but you can try out the pens and the staff are very knowledgable and are not constantly trying to upsell to something more expensive.

It is worth having a look at some of the cheaper pens like the Lamy Safari as a day to day "pocket pen" to avoid carrying your "good" pens when in casual mode with pockets that are not as secure.

The cool thing about the Lamy Safari is that you can get a selection of nibs and swap them yourself to play with different nib sizes and types without having to spend a fortune on swapping full barrels, as usual with Lamy get a converter as the cartridges are quite small. They also stock a good selection of inks.

    Hi there,
I use a parker pen for writing lots of notes out for exams.

I have found that the constant equal amount of ink flow is an issue over a period of time..

    Any ideas why this is??
