    Hi all

just a quick question that pretty much anyone who has done jury duty can answer for me. If you are called for jury service, and required to show up on a monday morning, and you are not called that day - is it the norm that you would turn up every morning for that week, or is it the norm that if you are not called on monday you would be free for the rest of the week?

    Thanks!

Normally, unless the judge directs otherwise you will be required to attend each day until you are released from duty.

    +1

It should say it on your Jury letter.....''until the presiding Judge discharges you from your duties''

If you are not called on the first day, one normally attends the next (and every) day until one is called.

The Judge might direct that you do not have to attend again until a certain day, when i did it, turned up on the first day, was not called and was told not to come back untill the next week, since there were no trials starting (for our panel) before then.

When I did jury duty we were told on Monday that we only had to return for the next 3 days as there were no cases on Friday. Obviously in your case it will depend how many cases to fill for the week.
There will only be a role call on Monday so if you don't turn up on the following days you will only be prosecuted if your name is picked from the box in the court room which might only be a 50/50 chance.
