    plugins from IK multimedia?

They are doing a great deal at the moment, 3 for the price of one, but it's only a great deal if the stuff is any good.

    What do ye think?

It's not like me to be a wise ass but the term 'mushroom soup' springs to mind. The thing is Rockshamrover I want to luv em but I have never used them but yet have tried many times to like em.

Interesting reply Dav. Should I resist the urge to splurge and save for something better? Any recommendations?

I have been using T-Racks for all my mastering jobs for many years.
IK also gives you plugs like miroslav orchestra! and other GREAT stuff.

Here's a bunch of links to songs that were mastered with T-Racks.
Obviously T-Racks is not the only ingredient in the chain, but it is the only mastering EQ/Compression/Limiter in the chain.

While I'm aware of T-Racks limitation/character, I still think it's a great tool. You might consider Ozone too if mastering is all you need.

I have tried using them for mixing but not mastering so I don't have an opinion in that area. The fact that they are price dropped may be due to the fact that they are not very good for mixing who knows. I have no doubt that some people will luv em and thats cool I really wanted to use them they look so frikkin cool after all but the Waves Fairchild 660 in my mind is better hands down. I would save for something better but then again if mastering is your bag than fair enough give em a try and see what happens. Waves fairchild would be my recommendation for a strong acoustic guitar compressor and then perhaps the PSP Retro Q for powerful eq. If you are using PT then make sure are using the Mellowmuse plug in to keep everything in time.

Have you tried the JJP bundle dave?..They do look nice in fairnes..but im boycotting israel and therefore waves at the minute..The WUP is a pain in the hole too, and they're $800 as opposed to $500..They were however modelled on specific pieces owned by Mr. Puig, whereas the t-racks is not..

Thanks lads for the replies. Demo them makes most sense I suppose, still a whole month left on the 3 for 1 offer.

    +1 on waves sucking.

Buy a cheapo UAD1 and a few plugs on there ;)

i prefer the ik 670. i bought it alongside the opto comp. they've modelled the saturation and personally i think it sounds better than the UAD. whether it sounds authentic is really unimportant as ive never sat down with a real 670. they do sound bloody good though.

These guys (IK Multimedia) have now reached over 1000 sales of the T racks singles which means you now get 4 plug ins for the price of one.

They are also giving away a 5th free plug in if sales reach 1500.

    Tempting.

I've been watching this too. I thought the brickwall limiter would be a useful addition to Logic as its Adaptive Limiter is a bit...erm...limited.rolleyes.gif

Also the Pultec & Fairchild models would be good for colourful eq & compression. €74.00 for 5 plug ins. I think I'm gonna take the leap...

JJV, the actual price for us Europeans is €89.99. I made the plunge yesterday. Still good value but a bit sneaky. IK charge the Italian Vat rate to all european purchasers.

    Good luck.

How much did you pay for the two? Can you not avail of the other two, possibly six, for free?

You should chance your arm by sending a mail to IK Support or sticking something up on the Gearslutz Thread.

to be honest ive no interest in any of the others. the opto and 670 is all i wanted. anyway, they were only 99 dollars each.

Not to bad I suppose. I still haven't got mine, even though I paid for them yesterday. I'm not to impressed with their customer support.

Are the two plugs you have good?

the 670 is lovely. the opto is the special one though.. fairly transparent and smooth.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm just demoing them at the moment. Which ones did you opt for?

I picked the vintage tube equaliser (Pultec) The 670. The metering suite. The multiband limiter.

    What will you go for?

I wouldn't get close to them.

You probably know this but for those of you that don't.

They got to two thousand sales the other day. That means you can get 5 plug ins and reverb plug in all for €99.

Could someone with the full version kindly tell me what constitutes the "Loud and Clear" preset? Choosing my 4 plug-ins, this deal seems too good to pass up on.
