Hey all, I bought a new laptop recently and all the tunes for my iPod are on my old laptop. My question is for someone more knowledgeable than I: do I have to manually transfer all the music files from my old laptop to my new before importing them to a newly downloaded version of iTunes on my new laptop and then syncing them with my iPod to ensure uniformity, or is there an easier way?
    Thanks in advance.

Copy them all to an external drive and then to your new laptop because apple won't let you copy them off you ipod unless you use third-party software.

you can download a program called "tuneaid" (legally download or not thats up to you:D) then you can take all music from your ipod and import it to your new itunes, depending on your type of ipod you might not need this program since this can be done manually by exploring the actual ipod files and copying them from it but this can only be done on older ipods.

im sure there are many other ways but this is the way i used when my old laptop broke and all my music was on my ipod, i had to figure out a way of getting the music from my ipod touch to new itunes took about a week to figure it out but i got it lol

If you still have access to iTunes on the old laptop then it's straighforward enough, you can just backup/restore the Library: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1451
