Nice to see a bit of empathy towards murder. Move along.

    Thats lovely...
Having the gun in the first place stupid imo, but what would you do if there was a gun infront of you and someone trys carjck you?!

Let them run away instead of chaseing them?

Especially when there's a child in the car.

Aren't people allowed to have guns for self protection in the US anyways?

Yeah but the point is that if you scare them off, leave it at that . Get in your car and leave. Other people have guns too.

We don't know the events of what happened, he could have been chasing them off to protect the child. Don't judge til you know more. A man died, at least share a bit of empathy.

Especially when there's a child in the car.

Just saw that part there well still its obvious he shouldn't have ran after them but still heat the moment and all that you'd be fairly in a rage! And a child in been in the car they tryed rob would add to that rage. Anyway the man just died and you dont know the exact details and calling him a dumbass...

    Very sad news:(

perhaps he did the wrong thing but as was said hindsight is a great general. i don't know what i would do in the heat of the moment, if faced with a similar situation, where i felt my life or the life of someone i cared about was in danger.

    http://www.ajc.com/news/atlanta/pro-boxer-vernon-forrest-100822.html

The Atlanta papers , say Forrest got robbed at gunpoint .
then it appears that Forrest got his gun out and chased the theif.

Had Forrest killed the theif , then he would have been up for murder surely ????

Anyway , Ive always liked Vernon despite his double victory over Mosley.
I remember him winning the belt and instantly jumping the ring ropes to run down to the "Destiny's Child" kids in the crowd. He put them first and then returned to celebrate with his corner team and missus.

But I think this type of ending happens far too often to boxers.
They got a fighters mentality by instinct , and whilst Me or You would be cowering in the corner after having been rinsed by a gunman , Vernon had the mentality to take this bloke on.

Im thinking of numerous tradgic endings of a few boxers lately.
Berbick got murdered with an axe in Jamaca,
James Oyebola got shot after telling a few kids to stub out thier ciggies ,
Gatti , and also here on boards there was a topic of an irish boxer who went out his front garden to warn off a few scumbags and payed with his life.

well RIP Vernon . Hope he finds a happier place in heaven

Uncanny comment on Vernon's Twitter page : http://www.twitlonger.com/show/2fafc84047f0a43ce3debdbd08d186bf

Man I had a nightmare last nite I dreamt I come home and found 4 guys were breaking into my house. I pull my heater and it was empty they chased me and was about to shot me then I woke up. The first thing I did was get my heater and made sure it was loaded. That dream will not come true.

    How odd is that ?

Whoa, wait a second - whole new can of worms to comment on now. I can't agree that justice has been served. All three face the death penalty, how the hell is that right? Only one of them pumped the shots into him, another robbed Forrest and the third drove the getaway car. The death penalty - REALLY?!

This argument needs a thread of it's own on another forum i suppose though.

Tragic ... every way you look at it:(

Personally, I'll be very happy to hear they all died in the electric chair.
